Graduated in 2008 from Eina, Barcelona. While still at Eina in 2007 he began his professional career at Mucho. In 2008 his school final project 'Zarzuela Poster Typeface' was included in the Wallpaper Graduate Directory 2009 and awarded with a nomination at the Art Directors Club NY and a silver Laus. The typeface has been used by well known designers such as Mucho, Astrid Stavro, and Pablo Martín and is still growing with the collaboration of Type O Tones (www.type-o-tones.com).
In 2012 he moved to London to join Winkreative as a senior designer and art director. There he worked on corporate identity and editorial projects for high end clients such as The Japanese Government, Lexus, Swire Properties, Strasburgo, Begg&Co, or Hermès amongst others, until he established himself as an independent designer in 2014, founding Carles Rodrigo Studio a year later.
Carles works on a wide range of identity, editorial, signage, and packaging projects, being the creation and use of typography the base of his work process. The quality of his work has been recognised by many prestigious design awards, such as D&AD, Art Directors Club NY, Art Directors Club of Europe and Laus Awards (ADG-Fad).
Carles believes in timeless ideas that give smart and responsible solutions, and that do not go unnoticed. Ideas that always adapt to the particular needs of each client.
Carles' work is based on an innovative use of the resources offered by typography and art direction. He works with the best talent in each specialty and seek printing systems aimed to get excellence in every project.
Carles believes in the breadth of scale, working on big and small projects at the same time. That gives him a real insight into the environment in which he is working. He believes in projects that he is passionate about, that cross different areas of creative direction, always providing a direct benefit for his clients.
